What is Medical Check Up? Introduction More people are slowly beginning to realize the importance of health care today.
Nevertheless, many of them out there, particularly those in the rural setting, still remain unaware. In the common scenario, most of them only need a friendly reminder every now and then; to watch their blood pressure and their blood sugar level especially in our society where sinfully good food is the culture. Thus, this is what the Medical Check-Up Unit of Volunteer Team aims to tackle. Every once in a while, we gather a group of enthusiastic students that will visit various villages, housing areas, or sometimes even school carnivals and the community will have the chance to discover whether they have been watching their weight or not, or if their blood pressure have spiked since their last check-ups (which can be as long as 5 years ago) or if their diet is finally showing in their blood sugar level. Additionally, the students will gain the invaluable experience of interacting with the society and learn ‘people’ skills that are not taught in the classroom; and concomitantly enhance their clinical skills by conducting simple tests such as measuring the blood pressure using a sphygmomanometer and the blood sugar level using a glucometer. From another perspective, a simple Medical Check-Up can essentially give a significant impact as it serves as an unconventional yet effective form of da’wah to the public. This unit definitely represents the limitless effort in boosting the health education among our community as well as providing a platform for students to gain everything you can without losing anything in return.
